Attorney General Jeff Landry led the LADOJ through a great month of May. From protecting our people to serving justice, our office continues fighting and winning for Louisiana. Below are some highlights from the successful month.

Four men arrested by our Cyber Crime Unit have been brought to justice. Alvin Adams (Jefferson Parish), Terrence Landry (Calcasieu Parish), Charles Cochrane (St. Tammany Parish), and John Arceneaux (Calcasieu Parish) were convicted of child pornography offenses. We will continue doing all we can to to hold child predators accountable.

In an interview with Fox News, AG Jeff Landry explained his latest efforts against Joe Biden's attacks on industries that supply consumers with reliable and sustainable access to power.

More than 60,000 Louisiana consumers tricked into paying for free tax services will begin receiving checks from a legal settlement that AG Jeff Landry made with TurboTax's owner Intuit.

AG Jeff Landry expressed concerns that the Net Zero Insurance Alliance may be stifling competition in Louisiana and driving up costs for consumers. So we are investigating if their actions violate our antitrust and consumer protection laws.

Despite Louisiana complying with federal environmental law, the EPA has threatened the livelihoods of our people and our communities. So we filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration over their environmental justice actions targeting Louisiana's petrochemical industry. As Deputy Solicitor General Scott St. John explained to Fox News Digital: "this is more biased, outcome-driven overreach from an ever-expanding federal government."

AG Jeff Landry praised the Louisiana House of Representatives for advancing
HB 321, legislation aimed at giving the public greater access to information in their criminal justice system. The bill would allow crime victims and citizens to easily view decisions and actions happening in criminal cases impacting their lives and communities.

After testimony from crime victims and prosecutors including our Chief Deputy John Sinquefield, the Legislature rejected a proposal to abolish the death penalty. As AG Jeff Landry said, Louisiana should honor the commitments our State made to those victim families: "Our criminal justice system, the rule of law, and the rights of victims are too important to delay executions any longer.”

Our office leads the Louisiana Sexual Assault Oversight Commission. So we are proud to report that SB 169, a bill would allow victims to anonymously track or receive updates of the status of their rape kit, has moved one step closer to the Governor's desk. As Chief Deputy John Sinquefield recently opined, the measure is going to result in "many more successful prosecutions of sexual assault offenders."

AG Jeff Landry’s landmark lawsuit against President Joe Biden and numerous high-ranking officials across multiple federal agencies had a major court hearing at the United States Court House in Monroe. Solicitor General Liz Murrill led the legal team presenting oral arguments on the motion for a preliminary injunction in Louisiana and Missouri v. Biden et al.

AG Jeff Landry testified in support of SB 7, legislation aimed to help protect the innocence of Louisiana children. The bill would give parents the ability to choose what materials in libraries are appropriate for their children to access.

AG Jeff Landry supports HB 648 and would like the full Louisiana Senate to take up the bill and pass it.

A federal judge has ruled a legal challenge of the LCMC-Tulane merger should be heard in Louisiana. AG Jeff Landry has declared LCMC and Tulane exceeded the statutory burden of proof required to issue a Certificate of Public Advantage; and he has argued that merger will enhance competition, lead to greater access to health care, result in higher quality health care, and will likely not result in undue increases to costs.
