Folks,

A couple of weeks ago, I told you that the decision in the Supreme Court’s Alabama redistricting case was a seismic shift that would reverberate throughout the South. Now, I’m so pleased to say that we’re seeing the consequences of that decision.

Based on the precedent set in Alabama’s Allen v. Milligan, this week the Supreme Court sent a redistricting bill back to Louisiana. Now, Louisiana is likely to have another Black majority district in the state.

That means we have the opportunity to win back another seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. I say win back, not flip, ok because this is a seat that should rightfully represent Black Americans – not a GOP gerrymander.

I believe that the Alabama gerrymandering case will be looked back on as a real turning point for politics in the South. A turning point for when minority voters can take back their due political power and a turning point where Democrats can break through the extremist one-party rule that Republicans hold over most of the region.

Folks, this is how change happens. A hard-fought political victory in Alabama is making waves across the South. With a House majority that is down to a few seats, that means the victory in Alabama could alter the balance of power in Washington.

Kicking extremists out of power and increasing Black and minority representation are all signs that we’re moving towards the right side of history. And in 2024, I’ll be fighting hard to make sure we stay there. As always, I’d appreciate your help. [[link removed]]
