Hi Friend,

I wanted to take this Valentine’s Day to talk about my amazing wife, best friend, and love of my life, Alyse.

Traditions are important to Alyse and me. One of our first traditions as a young couple was to play the card game Hearts on Valentine’s Day. Every year, we invite friends and family over for our annual Heart’s Party on Valentine’s Day. Here’s a photo from our very first Valentine's Day together.

By the time we celebrated our first Valentine’s Day as a couple, I’d already spent a summer in Alyse’s home state of Alaska. She made it clear that if I wanted to be with her, I needed to be in Alaska. So we loaded up her ‘82 Ford Tempo, and headed up the Alcan.

We spent that summer living with her Great Aunt Ruth and Uncle Walt, hearing their stories of Alaska in the ’40s and ’50s and Alyse’s family’s long history in Alaska. We worked the lunch shift at Simon’s and Seafort’s so we could spend our free time exploring.

As I watched Alyse work her way through college, I was in awe of her work ethic. She managed three or four jobs and still had time to be a strong community builder. Her strength and her unwavering commitment to the community has not changed over the years.

It was not long before we realized this was the kind of love that would last. We got married in 1989 and it was the day the best of my life began.

There was never a question that we would build our life and grow our family in Alaska. We have four wonderful kids, and I’ve watched Alyse be an amazing mother, while still working to make our Alaska community stronger.

At times when our family was struggling to make ends meet, Alyse went back to work. She worked as a server and later became the manager at a large hotel. I’ve watched her approach every job with the same tenacity and tireless energy she had as a young roustabout on a construction site.

It’s been amazing to see our four children grow up and accomplish so many of their dreams. Our kids serve as a constant reminder of the promise Alaska holds.

I married a woman able to do it all, and I am so grateful I get to spend every day loving her and supporting her. So, when she made the decision to run for office and serve our state, there was no question our family would be 100% behind her.

Alyse is putting her heart and soul into building this movement, but she’s relying on you to give our team the resources to pull off a win in November. I hope you’ll show your support for Alyse today by making a contribution to her campaign. [link removed]

Happy Valentine’s Day, Alyse. Thank you for making it so easy to love you.

Sincerely,

Pat
