Trump and Pelosi, Time to Turn the Other Cheek

By: Jim Daly

Note: This article by Focus on the Family President Jim Daly originally appeared on CNN

Inside the Washington, DC Hilton’s International Ballroom on Thursday, it was a scene straight from a script of a highly dramatic film.

Fresh off his acquittal in the Senate impeachment trial and seated at the head table before an overflow crowd for the 68th annual National Prayer Breakfast was President Donald J. Trump. Seated several seats over was Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi — the very woman who led the House of Representative’s impeachment proceedings against him.

Joining them on the dais was social scientist Arthur Brooks, author of his latest book, “Love Your Enemies.”

Let’s put it this way — you can’t make this stuff up.

Senator Sasse Reintroduces Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
By: Zachary Mettler

U.S. Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) will chair a hearing at the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 11 regarding the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. The hearing is titled, “The Infant Patient: Ensuring Appropriate Medical Care for Children Born Alive.”

The bill would require that babies born alive after a failed abortion attempt receive proper medical care and would subject abortionists to criminal penalties if they fail to comply.

The bill is being brought up again after it failed to pass out of the U.S. Senate last year when the majority of Senate Democrats defeated the legislation in a vote of 53 yeas to 44 nays. The bill is being brought up again after it failed in a procedural vote in the Senate last year that required 60 votes in order to advance the legislation to a final vote on the merits of the bill. Democrats Bob Casey (D-PA), Doug Jones (D-AL) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) joined with most all Republicans in supporting the procedural vote.

Cate Blanchett is both the executive producer of the new series as well as the actress playing Schlafly. The series will appear on “FX on Hulu.”

An official trailer for the series was revealed at a commercial break during the Oscars show.

The Birth-Day Project: Ice Cream Celebration Making a Difference in Children’s Lives

By: Jeff Johnston

Robert Just remembers the day a group of police officers came to the boarding school where he was living – a home for troubled youth. He was 8 years old. The police put on a show to entertain the children and make them laugh.

It’s years later, but Just never forgot those officers in Pleasantville, NY who cared enough to sacrifice their time and energy to spread some holiday cheer to a group of children. He’s grateful and knows the impact that one single event had on his life. Now, he wants to share what those officers did for him with other children, bringing adults into schools to celebrate the value of each child.

That’s the impetus behind the “Birth-Day Project,” a way for concerned adults to have an impact on their local schools.

Testifying for Life – Colorado State Legislature Strikes Down 22-Week Abortion Ban
By: Brittany Raymer

This week, Colorado citizens showed up to testify for and against two new pro-life bills in the state. One would protect babies born alive after botched abortions, and the other would ban abortion after the 22nd week of pregnancy, except in some limited circumstances. While the efforts failed because Colorado’s legislature and Governor’s office are controlled by the Democrat party, it was a strong showing and bipartisan effort that demonstrated the growing support for pro-life efforts in the state.

The effort to introduce a 22-week abortion ban, which is similar to a statewide ballot initiative currently gathering petition signatures, was led by State Representative Dave Williams (R-16), who hoped that this reasonable abortion restriction would move some legislators to act.
