🚨 Crucial Reproductive Rights Update 🚨

John - Anna Scudder here with another important update, but
first: will you join our fight to restore our basic, reproductive rights?

The radical right has taken their next steps toward their ultimate goal: a
national ban on abortion and reproductive healthcare.

Rep. Mark Green (TN-07) has announced his plan to introduce a bill known
as the States Choose Life Act of 2023. This bill would amend Title X
federal funding to remove any mention of choice in clinics that already
receive that funding and are typically used to dissuade patients from
seeking an abortion. However, there is no incentive for federal funding to
"encourage" abortions, and the Hyde Amendment prevents federal funds from
being used for an abortion with minor exceptions.

According to the Guardian, "At least 10 US states have siphoned millions
of dollars from federal block grants...to pay for the operations of
ideological anti-abortion clinics. These overwhelmingly Republican-led
states used money from the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
program (Tanf)...to fund the activities of anti-abortion clinics
associated with the evangelical right. The clinics work to dissuade women
from obtaining abortions." 

Meanwhile, in Wisconsin, State Rep. Chuck Wichgers (R-Muskego) made the
argument that birth control leads to a "loss of respect for women" and
that it gives women "control" over the natural process of pregnancy.  

The goal is a national ban. The GOP makes it clear in their proposed
legislation and their misinformed remarks about biology and women's
bodies. They tell us exactly what they want to do but gaslight us when we
call them out. They want complete control over the bodies of women and of
those in the LGBTQ+ community.

radical right and their attacks on freedom and the right to make our own
