From my family to yours, Eid Mubarak! May you and your family be surrounded with family, love and peace this Eid.

Growing up Muslim in one of the most diverse communities, Southwest Detroit, taught me the importance of connection and how we show up for each other no matter if we come from different cultures and backgrounds. This Eid, I hope we can love our neighbors more deeply, give back to the community in a way that changes lives for the better and center love in all we do.

May those of us celebrating in peace and safety say special prayers for Palestinians, Yemenis, Sudanese, Syrians and others who cannot celebrate because they are forced to live amid violence and oppression.
