In the heat of August, most people have their suitcases packed, their travel planned, and their out of office messages on, ready for vacation. It’s definitely not what you would consider a big political moment—and that’s what anti-choice politicians are counting on. 

On August 8th, a critical election in Ohio will determine the fate of abortion access in the state and take away Ohians’ opportunity to advocate for themselves. Ohio Republicans have called a special election with only one thing on the ballot: a measure that would make it much harder to pass citizen-led ballot initiatives, starting with a November initiative that would protect abortion access.

Politicians and special interests are counting on this sleepy August special election to limit Ohioans’ fundamental freedoms. Let’s not let them.
