Dear Friend,
This past Tuesday, at the last minute the Governor Youngkin and his Republican cronies filed yet another candidate to run against me.
A personal injury attorney, he is also a leader within the extremist Republican Party, chairman of the Richmond City Republican Committee, and a close friend of Governor Youngkin.
Fortunately, I have been campaigning for months now: I have never taken my seat, constituents, nor voters for granted. Now we are truly going to need your help.
Every seat in the Virginia Senate matters, and Democrats must hold on to the majority. I have no doubt that a Republican-controlled legislature in Virginia would institute a harsh abortion ban like those already imposed throughout the South. Republicans will continue to persecute the LGBTQ community, double down on fossil fuels, and protect the wealthy and well-connected.
I need your help. Thanks to redistricting, this district is almost entirely new to me. Many voters don’t know how hard I’ve worked, they don’t know that I’ve been a leader in protecting safe and legal abortion and contraception; that I’ve stood up for gun safety legislation; that I’ve fought hard for our public schools teachers; and that I’ve passed laws for environmental justice and to protect our climate.
We need to reach voters all throughout the new district, and for all of that I need your help.
We have a finance reporting deadline on June 30th and we need to show the Republicans and my opponent that we are going to stand strong for our values, principles, and Virginians.
Friend, please, give what you can, I’m counting on you. This threat is real. The Republican nominee is well-connected, well-known, and will likely be funded by Governor Youngkin. I need to depend on the support of my grassroot donors. [[link removed]]

Just know I will always stand like a brick wall to protect women’s reproductive freedom, to insist on gun violence prevention laws, to support our public schools and our teachers and our right to teach ALL history.
I will stand strong to fight climate change, to push back against prejudice and bigotry, and to ensure health care for all.
