My name is Dr. Kim Schrier. I'm a pediatrician, mom, and Democratic representative for Washington's 8th Congressional District.
I never thought I would run for political office, but that changed after the 2016 election. I watched Republicans in Congress stand in lockstep with a corrupt president on the wrong side of every issue near and dear to my heart: healthcare, environment, education, children’s wellbeing.
I knew this would be a tough journey and that the odds were not in my favor. No Democrat had ever represented this district before, and Republican dark money groups poured millions of dollars into the race to defeat me. But our grassroots team beat the odds.
Together, we flipped Washington's 8th Congressional District blue for the first time ever in 2018, and thanks to your continued support, we won again in 2020 and 2022.
We've accomplished a lot over the past four years, but there's still more work to be done. And protecting my seat in 2024 won't be easy.
WA-08 remains a true purple district, and the National Republican Congressional Committee once again named my seat one of their top targets in the country.
