Our team traveled across the entire US-Mexico border and visited every state on both sides to interrogate the unintended consequences of US immigration policy on the business of migrant smuggling. 

As risks rose, prices surged, and migrants began to move through less-traveled corridors, Mexican organized crime groups became more involved in human smuggling and profiting off the desperation of migrants through extortion and kidnapping.
