The Board of Supervisors just denied more housing...AGAIN

Yesterday the Board of Supervisors voted to uphold the CEQA appeal of 1151 Washington, with Supervisors Chan, Peskin, Preston, Melgar, Mandelman, Ronen, and Walton all voting to delay much-needed housing and once again taking CEQA into their own hands, denying more than a month's worth of housing at the current rate we are permitting it

If that sounds familiar, it's because this is the same sort of shenanigans they pulled with 469 Stevenson, which they only finally approved this year after much ridicule to stop them from doing just that. This is another embarrassing moment for our City and leaders.

So...what can you do to help?

Join us on June 29th to rally for Mayor Breed, Supervisor Engardio and Supervisor Dorsey's first piece of “Housing For All” legislation. We will be rallying for this important piece of legislation at 12:15 pm on the steps of City Hall and then going upstairs to give public comment in support at Planning at 1 pm

We already know our opponents will show up in force to say no to housing, we already know too many members of the Board of Supervisors will take whatever flimsy political cover they can, because we just saw it again yesterday.

That vote makes it all the more crucial for us to be there to say “Yes”! This legislation will:

  • Improve the process to build housing by greatly reducing Conditional Use Authorizations, public hearings and neighborhood notifications for most new housing

  • Make it easier to build subsidized affordable housing

  • Make the rules uniform and in compliance with state law

  • Authorize senior housing, homeless shelters, and group housing throughout San Francisco
