[[link removed]]Avi Kwa Ame, also known as Spirit Mountain, is considered sacred by 10
Yuman-speaking tribes and is a culturally important landmark for Mojave and
Sothern Paiute people. It provides habitat for many species found nowhere else
on Earth. But the threat of development would destroy the landscape and harm
these communities.

Supporters like you refused to sit back and watch this threat become a reality.
You amplified the voices of the communities urging President Biden to protect
the land as a National Monument.

After President Biden announced his intention to officially designate Avi Kwa
Ame as a National Monument during the White House Tribal Summit in November, we
knew we couldn’t let up until he followed through.

Supporters like you sent over 33,000 messages directly to the White House in the
following months, and Avi Kwa Ame was officially designated as a National
Monument by President Biden in March. The declaration is the result of
years-long advocacy campaigns led by Tribes, frontline and conservation groups
working with the Honor Avi Kwa Ame coalition. These designations provide
permanent land and resource protections in accordance with the Antiquities Act.

[[link removed]]Our work continues. In Alaska, the Willow Project will stain the Arctic with
pollution and oil for all who call the region home -- including the area’s
Indigenous residents. This project will decimate the ecosystems that have
supported Indigenous Alaskans for millennia. And it threatens the already
vulnerable caribou population -- a resource many local communities rely on. We
are working to fight back, and with you by our side, I know we can prevail.

Fighting to save our planet is hard work. But your support inspires us every
