In addition, congratulations and welcome to Jessica Tamayo of 32BJ SEIU who has been elected by our Constituency Groups to serve on Metropolitan Washington Council's Board. We will still have a vacancy on our Board for the Secretary position, and we will ask for nominations for this role at our next Delegates meeting in September. We are grateful to Tom Clark of IBEW 26 who temporarily stepped up to fill this important role.
In less exciting news, Déjah Désirée Williams, our Political and Legislative Director, shared with Delegates that she will be moving on in the next couple of weeks to pursue a new adventure. Though we are sad to see her go, we thank Déjah for her time with us and wish her the best in her new adventures. The COPE Chairs will be working on filling the Political and Legislative Director position, and a job announcement will be sent out in the near future.
As a reminder, our monthly Executive Board and Delegate Meetings will break for the summer and we will reconvene in September. During the summer break, we will still convene the Elections, Credentials, Constitution, and Evening with Labor Committees. We seek to ensure diversity and representation from all sectors and jurisdictions we represent. If you are interested in serving on one of these committees, please send an email to [email protected] to express your interest.
Finally, we wish everyone a safe, fun-filled summer and hope to see you at a rally, picket line, or community event sometime soon!
