Reclaim love this Valentine’s Day

John,

Every year on Valentine’s Day, Love is reduced to cheesy romance, too fickle and anemic to be a political force. But we know that Love is so much more than that. We know that Love is not a feeling, it’s a choice we make over and over again.

This year the Dream Corps is joining forces with Valarie Kaur and the Revolutionary Love Project to stage a cultural intervention to #ReclaimLove as a force for justice, beginning with Valentine’s Day.

Will you help us amplify #ReclaimLove on Valentine’s Day?

Love gives us strength to stay in the fight. It builds solidarity. It helps us understand our opponents. It pushes us to reimagine the world and create real solutions.

To us at Dream Corps, Love means we stick up for people behind bars even if others refuse to acknowledge their dignity. We stand alongside the black and brown communities bearing the brunt of the climate crisis even if others protect polluter profits. We create pathways for black and brown people to be the next tech CEOs even if others create pipelines to poverty. And we work with unlikely allies to do it all.

Help us #ReclaimLove as a revolutionary force for justice.

But how do we love in a time of enormous rage?

The answer is revolutionary love, a practice that enriches the meaning of both revolution and love and extends in three directions: love for others, love for our opponents, and love for ourselves. Starting from that place of wonder, our world begins to shift. This practice can transform an encounter, a relationship, a community, a culture, even a country.

In solidarity,
Dream Corps
