Message from Ted

Dear VCC Community,

I attended two wonderful events this weekend. On Friday evening I joined
the fundraiser sponsored by the Canadian Society for Science and Ethics in
Medicine (CSSEM) to raise funds for the doctors, nurses and other health
professionals terminated by the BC Government because of their moral
integrity. The room was packed with beautiful, like-minded souls who all
came together to honour and support our true health heroes. Then on Sunday,
Queenie, the VCC Chapter leader for East Vancouver hosted a wonderful
gathering which included a lengthy discussion with John Rustad, leader of
the BC Conservative Party, a potluck, followed by the screening of Mikki
Willis’ latest documentary – 'THE GREAT AWAKENING'. I left feeling
nourished, affirmed, and hopeful with the growing commitment by so many to
reclaim our rights and freedoms in this country.

I suggest there is something magical about this time. If feels unlike any
other time in my lifetime. I feel as though each of us is living the
‘_hero's journey_’ as defined by mythologist Joseph Campbell. Campbell
defines a hero as _“someone who has given his or her life to something
bigger than oneself.”_ He outlines four main stages to the Heroes
Journey:

1. CONFLICT - which calls the hero to leave their familiar world in search
of something. They know that something important hangs in the balance and
refusal of the call is simply not an option.

2. INITIATION - This is the point where turning back is not an option, and
where they usually encounter tests, allies and enemies.

3. TRANSFORMATION - The final separation from their old life to their new
life.

4. THE HERO'S RETURN.

A colleague shared with me her belief that we are in ‘_THE GREAT
TURNING’_. The task before us is to slow the harm, engage new and old
ways of rebuilding, and finally to experience a shift in consciousness. 

I’m confident there is something more to this journey than simply
protesting vaccine mandates, masking, and lockdowns. But rather, these are
the tests to challenge and transform the hero within all of us. In all of
our dealings, let us not forget that ultimately this is about our
transformation and our birthing into a new consciousness. It is our goal to
be “_a guiding light to help humanity steer its way home.”_
I must say I felt the transformation in the gatherings I participated in
this weekend.

Bill C-47 Is Now Law  

On June 22nd, 2023 the government passed Bill C-47 which will have far
reaching effects on all natural health products and practitioners in
Canada. The sections of the bill pertaining to natural health products
(sections 500-504) were well hidden inside a lengthy budget bill and as a
result, many Canadians were not aware of them. Now that the bill has
passed, it is urgent that we take action to protect our access to natural
health products. 

WE MUST DEMAND THAT OUR MPS REPEAL SECTIONS 500 TO 504 FROM BILL C-47.  

Understanding the consequences of sections 500-504 of Bill C-47 is critical
for any Canadian who uses natural health products, seeks services from
natural health practitioners, and values their freedom to care for their
body in whatever way they choose. The Natural Health Products Protection
Association (NHPPA.org) [17] has updated Shawn Buckley’s latest
Discussion Paper to reflect Bill C-47 passing into law. To see a 5 minute

ACTIONS YOU CAN TAKE TODAY:

1. Call your MP and request an in-person meeting to discuss the effects of
Bill C-47 on natural health products.  
2. Write a letter to your MP to share your concerns about Bill C-47 and how
it will impact your access to natural health products and practitioners (to
see guidelines for writing your letter, please watch for campaign updates
at NHPPA.org [17])

3. Please subscribe to the Natural Health Products Protection Association
(NHPPA.org [19]) to receive their updates and action items.
