Great news, John: In a major win for our democracy, the Supreme Court has rejected the fringe right-wing independent state legislature theory in Moore v. Harper!
The Republican petitioners in Moore v. Harper attempted to undermine our system of checks and balances by advancing the so-called “independent state legislature” theory – a truly fringe legal theory based on a willful misinterpretation of our Constitution. Quite frankly, the arguments advanced in this case were so extreme that the Supreme Court should never even have considered it.
Still, as Republican lawmakers in states across the country seek to cement their grip on unearned power, the threat posed by anti-democratic forces remains at large. The NDR PAC remains committed to combating dangerous ideas like this, and we’ll continue fighting to elect leaders who will strengthen our democracy.
