John,

A tiny town in France that’s been decimated by Nestlé stealing its water
is finally standing up to the beverage giant in court.

To win, their lawyers say they need hard data to prove that Nestlé’s
illegal pumping has destroyed the town’s water supply. But the community
is quickly running out of funds to keep the lawsuit alive, and they’ve
turned for us for help.

If enough of us chip in, we can help them hire a hydrogeologist to conduct
the fieldwork needed and file a report proving that Nestlé’s bottomless
quest for water has exhausted the region’s water supply.

Our community has come together to help this small town before. Now,
they’re so close to finally holding the world’s biggest food and beverage
company responsible for the damage it has caused. Let’s do it again:

Nestlé is draining the French town of Vittel’s water at a faster rate than
it can possibly regenerate, bottling it and selling it for a huge markup.
The bloodthirsty multinational is on the verge of exhausting its only
source of drinking water, prompting a massive water crisis. And to make
matters worse, the water giant was exposed for dumping enough chemical and
plastic waste to fill several dozens of Olympic swimming pools!

Instead of cleaning up and rehabilitating the contaminated land, Nestlé
filed a complaint against the farmer who first sounded the alarm about its
illegal dumping – trying to scare the entire community from daring to
fight back.

But the town isn’t backing down. Brave activists hired a great lawyer to
try to stop Nestlé in court – but the multinational is pulling out all the
stops to try to win. And currently, it’s impossible to know just how dire
the drought is because there aren’t enough instruments in place to measure
the water level in the region. And without that data, activists can’t
prove their case in court!

Now we can change that.

The community’s lawyer has identified a top-level hydrogeologist with a
proven track record of fighting for water rights who can get the data the
community needs to win. Now they just need the funds to cover their fees.
Can you help?

Our massive mobilization in support of the people of Vittel already helped
stop an environmentally destructive water pipeline project. Now we can
come together to help them at this crucial moment – can you pitch in to
help them win?

Thanks for all that you do,
Allison and the Ekō team
