Now that they see how badly they were outmaneuvered by President Biden, McCarthy's MAGA majority is having second thoughts about honoring the debt ceiling deal that they already agreed to. House Republicans are planning to unilaterally cut vital funds, forcing the government into a stalemate.
It's easy to risk a government shutdown when you don't care about the lives that will be affected — the Social Security checks that will stop going out, the millions of federal employees who will go without pay, the vital services that will stop being provided.
