*LA COUNTY FIRE MUSEUM COMEMMORATES 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE ENTRAPMENT OF THE GRANITE MOUNTAIN HOTSHOTS *

"A 19-second moment of silence will be observed to remember former LACoFD Explorer Kevin Woyjeck and his 18 crew members."

*Los Angeles, CA ?* The Los Angeles County Fire Museum (16400 Bellflower Boulevard, Bellflower, CA 90706) will host a remembrance ceremony on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., to commemorate the ten-year anniversary of the entrapment of the Granite Mountain Hotshots Crew whose members perished while battling the Yarnell Hill wildfire in Prescott, Arizona.

Former Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Explorer Kevin Woyjeck was one of the 19 crew members who was overrun by fast-moving flames.? The 2017 "Only the Brave" movie told the story and depicted the lives of the Hotshots Crew.

?On behalf of the Woyjeck family, I want to thank everyone for all of the thoughts and prayers that have been sent our way since the loss of our 21-year-old son, Kevin, and his 18 Granite Mountain Crew mates,? said retired LACoFD Fire Captain Joe Woyjeck and his wife, Anna.? ?It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since their passing on June 30, 2013.? Sometimes, the loss feels like yesterday ? and sometimes, it feels like decades ago.? The Fire family and the community put their arms around us, showering us with love and kindness, and I guarantee you that we would not be where we are today without that support.?

At the remembrance ceremony, a 19-second moment of silence will be observed in honor of the crew members? memories.? ?At 4:42 p.m. (the time of the crew?s passing), please join us for 19 seconds of silence.? Take that 19 seconds to remember the 19 fallen firefighters and to re-focus on what is important in your life, including counting your blessings,? said the Woyjecks.

In honor of Kevin Woyjeck?s life and sacrifice, the Woyjeck family created a nonprofit organization to help aspiring firefighters.? For more information about the Kevin Woyjeck Explorers for Life Association, please visit [link removed] [ [link removed] ].
