As a working mom of three young children, I understand the responsibilities and obstacles many families face -- particularly here in Southwest Washington, where child care can be hard to find.
That’s why I’m taking action in Congress to increase child care availability, make it more affordable, and give families more tools to pay for it!
By coleading The Child Care Workforce and Facilities Act, I’ve joined my colleagues in a bipartisan effort to address the shortage of child care workers.
I’m also leading The Family Savings for Kids and Seniors Act which would increase the amount of money families can set aside for daycare, preschool, etc.
And with my Advancing Support for Working Families Act, Southwest Washington families would be able to access up to $5,000 right after the birth or adoption of a child - without additional costs to taxpayers.
Thanks to tax cuts and regulatory relief from Congress, more people are finding good jobs in Southwest Washington, but there’s much work to be done to empower parents of young children to continue doing so.
