Dear John,
Politicians hate when you laugh at them. They can handle outrage, but they can’t handle mockery.
That’s why, every year, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation hands out pig-shaped trophies to the worst offenders of wasteful spending in municipal, provincial and federal governments.
We call it the Teddy Waste Awards – named after former federal bureaucrat Ted Wetherill, who wasted a lot of money, including a $700 lunch for two.
We’ve given awards to massively wasteful spending like the long gun registry and Bombardier. We’ve also given awards to smaller, sillier waste, like when Montreal spent money clearing snow that wasn’t there.
A lot of this year’s nominations only came to light because our own investigative journalist dug them up.
A live audience of CTF supporters like you watched us present the Teddy Waste Awards in Calgary this year. They were roaring with laughter.
You can watch this year’s Teddy Waste Awards show on YouTube. Just click this link: https://www.taxpayer.com/campaigns/you-won-t-believe-how-politicians-waste-your-money
But don’t just watch the awards show. Please share the link with your friends and family so more Canadians can see how governments are wasting money.
You can make sure you don’t miss any of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation’s videos by subscribing to our YouTube channel (it’s free).
Thanks for fighting for taxpayers – it’s making a difference!
Sincerely,
