and that's not all

Hello Friend,

It’s been 1 year since we helped get the Greenidge fracked gas power plant's Air Quality Permit denied. Yet, the Greenidge fracked gas plant is still burning fossil fuels on the shores of Seneca Lake to mine Bitcoin 24/7 - WITHOUT A PERMIT - while it intentionally drags out the appeals process.

Greenidge is using the most energy intensive process possible to mine cryptocurrency, destroying our environment for profit. Greenidge teeters on the brink of bankruptcy, offers very few jobs, and continues to harm Seneca Lake’s agritourism industry and our clean air, water, and climate. It’s time to shut Greenidge down for good!

Rally in Geneva: Shut Down Greenidge!

Join Seneca Lake Guardian and Gas Free Seneca for a big rally/ press conference to call on Greenidge to shut their fracked gas plant down. You can't drive when your license is suspended, but that's essentially what Greenidge is doing, and it must stop! We’ll rally in Geneva to let Greenidge know they can’t keep operating at our planet’s expense.

Rally in NYC: No Fracked Gas for Bitcoin Mining!

Thursday, June 29th, 11am-12pm

The Charging Bull, Bowling Green, New York, NY 10004

RSVP

Join Food & Water Watch and others on Wall Street in NYC to demand the closure of the Greenidge fracked gas power plant in the Finger Lakes used for Bitcoin mining.

The Department of Environmental Conservation denied Greenidge’s air quality permit a year ago! On this "anniversary of shame," we'll be calling for the closure of this dangerous national symbol of cryptomining's financially predatory and environmentally destructive nature.

Bill Updates:

Thanks to all of your calls and mobilization, the Save the Hudson bill and the Utility Intervenor Reimbursement bill officially passed in both houses of the NYS Legislature! 🎉 Stay tuned for next steps to get it signed by the governor soon.

But first, let's get the Save the Hudson bill over the line and stop Holtec from dumping their wastewater in our rivers!

📣Please call Gov. Hochul at (866) 696-8249 and urge her to sign the Save the Hudson bill (A.7208/S.6893) using the suggested call script below - feel free to personalize it!

“Hi, my name is __, and I live in __, zip code ___. I am calling to urge Governor Hochul sign the save the Hudson bill (A.7208/S.6893). Governor Hochul must sign this now, BEFORE Holtec starts dumping radioactive waste into the Hudson River, which they plan to do THIS SUMMER. Stopping this toxic waste from entering our drinking water is essential to protect our health, recreation, economy, and aquatic life.

Bonus action: please also use this quick and easy email tool for the Save the Hudson bill!

And finally: please take a moment to enjoy our Renewable Heat Now campaign photo collage with highlights from all the incredible work we did together with allies statewide these past 9 months. It’s been quite the year, so before we head into our next steps it’s worth a look back at all we did to get here!
