Dear John,

As Chairman of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness, I work to ensure our service members have the support and training necessary to defend our nation. Sadly, in the last 5 years more than three times as many service members died in training-related incidents than in combat.

That’s unacceptable, and I’m using my position as Chairman to push back and ensure the Pentagon takes the necessary actions to address the concerning rise in training-related deaths. I spoke about this issue with CBS This Morning. You can watch the full piece below and learn about the inspiring military family who brought this issue to my attention after their son lost his life in a training accident: [link removed]

Sincerely,

John Garamendi
