Hi Friend,
I am writing to bring your attention to an urgent matter that requires your support.
Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan introduced the Support UNFPA Funding Act last week, and it’s crucial that we help support it in the House.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the primary United Nations agency dedicated to expanding access to contraceptives, promoting reproductive health care, and providing emergency obstetric care around the world. UNFPA works across 150 countries, including in places with humanitarian emergencies like those in Ethiopia and Ukraine, to provide reproductive health care to over 20 million people a year.
The Support UNFPA Funding Act will ensure ongoing U.S. funding for the crucial work of UNFPA to help ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and the potential of every person is realized.
UNFPA’s work is also essential to building a safer, healthier, and more stable world, because as Rep. Houlahan says: "When we talk about bringing better national security and peace to regions and to the world you have to first be talking about bringing health to women and educational opportunities and economic opportunities to them and their families.”
Please take a moment to contact your representatives in Congress and ask them to support the UNFPA bill. [[link removed]] Let them know that investing in reproductive health care is a critical step towards creating a more just, equitable, and sustainable world.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Brian Dixon
Sr. Vice President for Government and Political Affairs
