Hey there,

My amazing team does a great job of keeping track of some of the frequent
questions folks have for me.

So over the weekend, I took an hour to think about some of my answers.
Read on – I’ve listed a few of the top questions here, and shared my
responses!

As County Executive, are you qualified to be Maryland’s next Senator?

It’s true that local leadership requires a different lens than in
Washington. But I think working at the community level on day-to-day
issues like growing jobs, education, public safety, budgeting, and
resource management taught me valuable lessons about leadership and
communication – lessons that will guide me in the Senate.

I learned that the most successful policies are rooted in mutual trust,
community cooperation, and common-sense thinking. If you ask me, we could
use a lot more of that sort of thinking in the Senate.

If elected to the Senate, what issues do you plan to address?

An excellent question.

Needless to say, there’s a lot that needs doing. But I want to highlight
two issues that are top-of-mind: gun violence and reproductive rights.

Our country has suffered more than 300 mass shootings this year, and it’s
time our elected officials used the tools at their disposal to finally
pass common sense gun laws that protect Americans.

It’s been more than a year since SCOTUS struck down Roe, and tens of
millions of Americans are in states with abortion restrictions or outright
bans. I’ll never stop fighting for reproductive freedom, and if we elect a
pro-choice majority to the Senate willing to get rid of the filibuster, we
can finally protect access to safe and legal abortion.

What impact can my $10 or $25 really have in a race this big?

Your contribution will have a HUGE impact, and here’s why.

My primary opponent is a multi-millionaire, so while he can skip the
fundraising part of campaigning, we’re relying on a grassroots movement of
thousands to help us compete.

When you donate, you’re helping our campaign knock on doors and make phone
calls to the voters we need to reach in order to win. You’re helping us
plan events and travel to every corner of Maryland to reach people where
they’re at. And you’re helping us run ads and buy airtime so we can spread
our Maryland-first message far and wide.

It’s important for me to engage with supporters like you, because you’re a vital part
of this team, and I want this campaign to reflect your values.
