We're writing to you with an important membership challenge as we end the second quarter of 2023. But just to be clear, this is no doom and gloom "we are going out of business" challenge. No flashing graphic gimmicky challenge. Not even a tear-jerker challenge with a sad puppy.

Nope. As one of the few national grassroots groups driven by our members, we are asking you to recommit to the democracy-saving work of defeating the MAGA-controlled GOP at this crucial moment, as we finalize our plans for the 2024 election cycle.

Because, in truth, this summer is shaping up to be one of our busiest and most important. With President Joe Biden gearing up for his reelection campaign, Donald Trump and his MAGA marionettes escalating their attacks on our democracy, and Ron DeSantis traveling the country and celebrating his authoritarian policies including banning the books our kids need to read, there is a lot to do. If you want us to.

So, here's the challenge.

Over the next four days, we want to bring in 3,150 new donations to MoveOn. And we don't need you to shell out big bucks. Small donations of $5, $10, or $20 add up to make a big difference. In fact, a $10 donation allows MoveOn to send 500 text messages to MoveOn members!

John, we really mean it when we say that MoveOn is powered by our members and that your contributions make an outsized impact. Here are just a few examples:

If all 3,150 new donors chipped in just $5, we could purchase 1,432 copies of the most banned book of 2023, "Gender Queer: A Memoir" by Maia Kobabe, to give away for free from our Banned Bookmobile when it launches next week.
If all 3,150 new donors chipped in just $10, we could help MoveOn members make 4,869 calls to Congress demanding that they impeach corrupt Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
And if all 3,150 dug deep and chipped in $15, we could send a whopping 2,362,500 text messages to MoveOn members, with information on how to check their voter registration status and register to vote.

Your donation could be a part of doing all that.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Book bans have skyrocketed thanks to right-wing state laws which have forced teachers to remove books from their classrooms. In response, MoveOn is launching a "Banned Bookmobile," filling it with books that the far right has banned, and driving it around to hand out those books, for free, in highly trafficked areas that will attract media attention.
