Wisconsin is leading the way and showing the entire country that divided government can still deliver true freedom-centered policy.
We know school choice works in Wisconsin and is popular with the public. It’s why even Gov. Evers was inclined to cut a deal with Republican in the legislature to make the program stronger than ever. Now, significant new funding will expand educational opportunities and help even more Wisconsin children receive the education they deserve.
The details of this agreement and WILL’s important research that helped influence this historic expansion of school choice were recently featured in an editorial by the Wall Street Journal. I am pleased to share this editorial with you. Editorial: Wisconsin Ups the Voucher Ante.
Their editorial board writes, “This month lawmakers passed a bill raising the per-pupil scholarship amount for the state’s three main voucher programs...These changes bring the scholarships to 73% of per-pupil union school funding from about 61%, according to the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL).”
WILL’s efforts alongside the Wisconsin Coalition for Education Freedom is once again receiving national recognition for its work shaping policy in Wisconsin. Tony Evers has been hostile to school choice, including attempting to freeze enrollment at schools that take the vouchers. But he signed the bill last week, …"
There’s also much more work to do. Even before Governor Evers and Republican Legislators announced new funds for school choice, a progressive Super PAC announced that they are fundraising and preparing their legal challenges to dismantle the choice program.
WILL is uniquely positioned to not just fight, but WIN in the courtroom with our resilient and strategic legal team that works tirelessly to uphold the Constitution and its guaranteed freedoms.
Consider supporting this success story and our future efforts to protect school choice in Wisconsin.
