Friend,

Congressional committee discussions are already underway on the Farm Bill that comes up every five years. Much of this bill is routine, but as a legislative package, members can use it to attach other legislation. Our opponents are looking to include the Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act in this year’s Farm Bill, which could have catastrophic consequences for animals and people alike.

Friend, as we gear up for this all-out fight, your contribution of $20 or more to the Humane Society Legislative Fund today will help power this critical work and all our efforts on behalf of animals. ([link removed])

Here’s why this is so urgent: Designed to sweep away laws and regulations that hold big corporations accountable, the EATS Act could wipe out pro-animal welfare state laws. Laws that ban the cruel confinement of egg-laying hens, mother pigs and veal calves. And hundreds of other protections from terrible cruelties—like puppy mill abuses, the inhumane killing of animals for the wildlife trade and painful experiments on animals for cosmetics testing.

Simply put, your gift to HSLF today helps us stop the EATS Act from becoming law and fuels our fight to stand up for animals whenever and wherever they’re threatened. ([link removed])

Beyond the harm it could cause to countless animals, this legislation could also negate other crucial protections that affect people, such as pesticide application on fields, arsenic in food, lead poisoning, chemicals in baby food, pollution standards for spraying sewage on crops, flammability standards for cigarettes, and child labor.

HSLF has a proven track record of wins on critical animal protection issues like defeating attempts to block crucial state laws. Your gift today helps ensure we are successful once again. ([link removed])

Thank you,
