Marjorie Taylor Greene thinks she’s being spied on via her TV
The woman who brought you Jewish space lasers and Clinton sacrifice rituals is back with another truly bonkers conspiracy theory. This time, the MAGA congresswoman is convinced that her TV is spying on her and that her life might very well be in danger, all because a neighbor seems to have accidentally Chromecast to her television.

Ron DeSantis vows to use "deadly force" against undocumented migrants crossing the border
In an effort to salvage his fledgling presidential campaign, the Florida governor and real-life Disney villain is vowing to authorize the use of "deadly force" against undocumented migrants attempting to circumvent the border wall. He suggested that this murderous approach would be used against cartel members but in practice it would inevitably lead to the massacring of innocent women and children.

Kentucky's Republican attorney general and gubernatorial nominee caught in campaign solicitation scandal
Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron personally solicited thousands of dollars in donations for his gubernatorial campaign from executives of Edgewater Recovery Centers, a Kentucky drug treatment organization that his own office began investigating last year, and even discussed plans for a possible fundraiser to be hosted by the embattled company. Edgewater has been under investigation since 2022 by the AG's Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse, which didn't seem to raise any red flags for Mitch McConnell's hand-picked candidate to take on Democratic incumbent Andy Beshear.

Supreme Court unfreezes Louisiana redistricting case that will boost power of Black voters
The nation's high court had a rare, broken-clock moment and justly ruled that Louisiana can redraw its congressional map to ensure it accurately reflects the state's demographics — giving Democrats a fair, fighting chance in upcoming elections. Louisiana officials were originally sued in 2020 because the congressional map gerrymandered by Republicans made only one of its six districts majority Black despite African Americans making up 1/3 of the state's population.

GOP Sen. Markwayne Mullin literally challenges committee witness and labor union president to a fight

Winning one open Arizona seat is key to taking back the House
Yassamin Ansari for Congress: Winning in Arizona means we get our majority back — and losing means that some of the most unhinged election-denying, democracy-hating Trumpers in the country will be headed to Washington. Yassmin Ansari is a fantastic candidate running for Congress in a crucial Arizona seat to make sure we deliver President Biden a new majority for his second term! Can you chip in to help keep Trump's most radical minions out of office?
Supreme Court lets lawsuits over team doctor’s sexual abuse proceed against Ohio State
230 men can now sue Ohio State University over the sexual abuse inflicted on them by a late university doctor. Hundreds of former student athletes accused Dr. Richard Strauss of abusing them when he worked for the school from 1978 to 1998. Strauss committed suicide in 2005. This new ruling should be particularly concerning to MAGA Rep. Jim Jordan. Allegedly, Jordan was fully aware of the sexual predation during his time as assistant wrestling coach at the university but for some reason — perhaps naked careerism — he refused to do anything. Now that the lawsuits can proceed, expect plenty more damning coverage of the sordid scandal and Jordan's unconscionable, negligent behavior.
Ron DeSantis commits his "worst strategic move" by infuriating influential Republican women's group in New Hampshire
Ron just can't seem to do anything right these days. Further proving that his campaign is either stunningly incompetent or actively working to undermine him, DeSantis invited the ire of the influential New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women by scheduling an event in the state on the same day as their historic "Lilac Luncheon," an event that Donald Trump is slated to attend. The women released a statement slamming the Florida governor and real-life Disney villain for his "unprecedented" interference, a move that looks incredibly petty and silly from the outside but which bodes terribly for DeSantis' prospects in the early primary state.
Putin slams "traitors" as Wagner boss claims mercenary rebellion was only a "protest"
Yevgeny Prigozhin and his Wagner Group abandoned their brazen march on Moscow and the political landscape in Russia is more opaque than ever. Putin previously promised to give amnesty and forgiveness to the mercenary leader and his men, but is now slamming them as traitors. Meanwhile Prigozhin, who is thought to be in exile in neighboring Belarus, is now claiming that the rebellion was merely a protest. It's unclear what will unfold in the next few days, but it seems likely that this story is far from over.
Judge in Trump docs case denies special counsel's request to keep list of 84 witnesses under wraps
Judge Aileen Cannon is a Trump appointee. That's really all that matters when analyzing this new decision. She must recuse herself or else the legitimacy of every single decision she makes going forward will be rightly called into question.

Today’s Action: Fight misinformation and attend an Abortion Academy session!
Regardless of what conservatives would like to be true, America is not a theocracy. More than 60% of Americans support legal abortion access. It is simply not enough to rely on blue-state facilities to serve as firewalls against the relentless legislative assault from anti-choice Republicans in red states; we must guarantee far-reaching reproductive healthcare throughout the most conservative nooks of our country. That takes a grassroots effort from ALL of us.
That’s why Shout Your Abortion, a national organization fighting to normalize reproductive healthcare, is hosting its first Abortion Academy session THIS Thursday, July 29th. The goal? Share information, connect, and plan for action. Fighting extremist, right-wing bills will take education, action, and coalition — this is the perfect place to join the fight.
A legislator’s job is not to play God, it’s to serve their communities. And SCOTUS’ overturning of Roe v. Wade set an extremely dangerous precedent for the treatment of anyone who isn’t a straight, religious, white, cisgender male.
Sign up for Shout Your Abortion’s FIRST Abortion Academy, THIS Thursday at 8pm, and join the fight for reproductive health!
Can’t attend? Whether it’s donating to a local abortion fund, finding a rally, or writing your members of Congress, your voice is still needed in the struggle for federally protected abortion rights. You can find a comprehensive list of abortion funds to donate to here; states with conservative, Republican-dominated legislatures — Kentucky, Ohio, Alabama, Texas, and Louisiana, in particular — are in dire need of support in the face of unrelenting attacks on reproductive healthcare.
Still the OD Action newsletter you've come to know and love.
