Hello John,

I have to admit, even six months in, I'm still in awe that the boy I sent to military school is now the man I call governor.

When Wes first told me he wanted to run for governor, I knew he faced serious challenges. He was the underdog, a first-time candidate going up against career politicians who'd spent decades building their influence. I worried folks would only see the boy he was, not the man he's become.

But I also knew he had the drive and the heart to win. Because I saw those same qualities when he graduated from military school, served as an officer in Afghanistan, became the first Black Rhodes scholar at John Hopkins University, launched his small business, and led one of the nation's largest poverty-fighting organization.

And now I see him putting that same drive and heart to work for the people of Maryland every day. I'll admit to being biased, but I think he's doing an amazing job.

I'm reaching out because while Wes has been working hard for all of us, it's meant he hasn't had much time to fundraise. And his team tells me that while our goals are much more modest than they were a year ago, it's still important that we hit them so we can keep moving Maryland forward.

There are only 3 days left this month, and the team has shared that we still need to raise $6,491 before the end-of-quarter deadline on June 30. If you're proud of the job Wes is doing, will you please pitch in to close the gap?
