Happy summer, John! In March, Alabama Arise launched a goal of raising $75,000 by June 30 to fuel our advocacy during and after the legislative session on the policies you care about, such as expanding Medicaid, untaxing groceries and criminal justice reform.

June 30 is almost here, and we have made great progress on this goal! People across the state have joined Arise to help create an Alabama where everyone has the resources they need to survive and thrive.

With $4,140 left to raise, we only need 83 people to donate $50 by June 30 to reach our goal. Can we count on you, John, to be one of these people and donate to Arise today?

This year, we’ve made some incredible progress for Alabamians who are working hard to make ends meet. With support from members like you, we:

• Reduced the state grocery tax! A family of four could save about $300 per year on groceries when this law is fully in effect.
• Helped pass a law to limit driver’s license suspensions due to inability to pay fines and fees. More folks will be able to keep their jobs and stay connected to their communities as a result.
• Laid the groundwork for Medicaid expansion. The House Health Committee formally discussed Alabama’s health coverage gap for the first time this year. Lawmakers also created a Medicaid reserve fund that will be a critical tool for expansion. 

There’s so much more work to do. It’s imperative that we keep up this momentum to implement our policy changes and improve the lives of families with low incomes.
