Dear Friend,

Next week, America celebrates our 247th birthday. Independence Day is a day where we gather with our family and friends to celebrate our nation’s founding and the freedom we have the privilege to enjoy. Unfortunately, many of our rights are vanishing right before our eyes. The Biden Administration is pushing their radical social and green-energy agendas by trying to control what appliances you use and what cars you drive, literally from stove top to tail pipe. The Department of Justice regularly harasses law-abiding citizens while ignoring evidence of possibly serious crimes committed by Hunter Biden. However, House Republicans are working to defend our freedoms. We do not believe unelected federal agency bureaucrats should have the power to control every aspect of Americans’ lives across the country. Our founding fathers fought for self-governance over governance by administrative agencies. Like all Americans, Alabamians have the Constitutionally guaranteed right to a representative government and to make decisions for themselves instead of having decisions forced upon them by the Biden Administration. This Independence Day, we are continuing that fight to ensure future generations can enjoy the same freedoms that our founders pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to protect.

Alabama Prayer Breakfast

It was an honor to attend and participate in the inaugural Alabama Delegation Prayer Breakfast hosted by Sen. Tommy Tuberville in Russel Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C. It was a great time for Alabamians to come together and pray for our state and our nation. Thank you to Senator Tuberville for hosting this event. I am already looking forward to next year.

Biden Family Investigations

Last week, Hunter Biden made a plea deal with the Department of Justice that was nothing more than a slap on the wrist. His crimes were serious, but they were not treated that way. Hunter Biden knowingly broke the law to purchase a firearm but will serve no jail time. Meanwhile, the Biden Administration is pushing regulations that would make millions of ordinary Americans and veterans of our armed services into felons overnight. This is unacceptable. In regard to other issues related to Hunter Biden, I will continue to work with the Oversight and Accountability Committee to investigate these allegations and go where the evidence leads us.

Reining in Government Spending

Our country’s spending is out of control. Washington Democrats wanted to raise the debt ceiling and receive a blank check. However, House Republicans negotiated a debt ceiling increase that also included reforms to the infrastructure permitting process. Keep in mind that a debt limit increase is not an appropriations bill or a budget and does not raise spending, it raises the limit that can be spent. Despite some good aspects of the bill, it did not include significant reforms regarding work requirements for welfare. Simply put, Americans should not be paying money to keep single, able-bodied adults with no children at home. To hear more about my thoughts on the bill, please listen to the interviews below:

Protecting Gas Stoves and Kitchen Appliances

The Biden Administration wishes to control every aspect of our lives- even what appliances we use in our kitchens. Last week, House Republicans passed our Save Our Gas Stoves Act to prevent the Biden Administration from regulating our gas-powered appliances. This follows up on my amendment on H.R. 1, our Lower Energy Costs Act, that prevents the Department of Energy from banning 50% of gas stoves on the market. We will continue to hold Washington Democrats accountable and keep them from pushing their green energy agenda on the American people.
