We're pleased to let you know that from July 1, Bonegilla Migrant Experience will once again be open seven days a week!

Visitors are welcome any day of the year during our opening hours of 10am to 4pm, except for ANZAC day, Christmas day and days declared Catastrophic fire danger days.

From July 1 our service prices will change.

Site admission fees will cost $6 per adult, $5 per concession and children under the age of 16 are free. 

Self-guided tours remain free.

Guided tours (both scheduled and group tours) including site admission will cost $19 per adult, $16 per concession and $10 per child aged under 16 years.

We're excited to share that the recently installed ID Cards exhibition at Bonegilla Migant Experience has been announced as the 2023 winner of the Permanent Exhibition or Gallery Fit Out category at the Museum and Galleries National Awards (MAGNA).

The award was accepted by Art of Multimedia and Convergence Design who produced the exhibition.

In the Hume Club you’ll find a stunning display of landscape murals painted by migrant artist Paul Chimin.

This display is generously on loan to Block 19 from the Australian Government Department of Defence, which has arranged for the six murals to be relocated from the Bonegilla Theatre Hall at Latchford Army Barracks.

Australia's Dutch Connections exhibition

On loan from the Albury LibraryMuseum, this exhibition charts the history between Australian and Dutch migration from the 19th century through to the mid-20th century. It features memorabilia and artefacts associated with the emergency landing of the Dutch airplane Uiver in Albury in 1934.

Be sure to stop by and explore this intriguing Dutch display located in the Kitchen Mess Hall, before it comes to an end on July 31.

The Women's Pages by Victoria Purman

Times had changed for women during World War II in Sydney. With men in services overseas fighting for the country’s freedom, women became the backbone of the nation, taking on a variety of roles that were left vacant and had archetypically been a ‘man’s domain’. Now the war is over, women are expected to vacate positions and return to taking care of the domestic scene, making good homes to nurture the returning veterans. 

Purman captures beautifully life as it was at the time, and how radically the war changed life for the women of Australia.

Earlier this year we had the pleasure to present two events as part of the National Trust’s Heritage Festival, with this year's theme being 'Shared Stories'.

In the April school holidays we welcomed children and their families to a fun day out making light catchers, pinch pots and even churning their own butter to spark conversations about shared family history.

Then, on a bright and beautiful Sunday afternoon in May, we celebrated Mother’s Day with a delicious high tea, accompanied by musicians from Murray River Fine Music.

Earlier this month, Bonegilla Migrant Experience proudly hosted the Murray network of the Australian Museums and Galleries Association for a day of conversation and collaboration.
