John, last year, far-right groups went all-in on hundreds of school board elections. Prominent Republicans like Ron DeSantis personally endorsed school board candidates, drawing more attention and investment from GOP PACS into these crucial but overlooked races.

That’s a problem. 

The GOP’s push to dominate school boards across the country is not slowing down. Worse, thousands of school board races still go completely uncontested! That means full slates of far-right candidates can swoop in and claim these vital seats – with often disastrous consequences for students and the direction of our country. 

Book ban attempts have skyrocketed more than 700% since 2020, and marginalized communities are always the target. Meanwhile, 22 states have bans preventing transgender students from participating in school sports, and the wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation continues to rise. None of these policies are about quality education or students’ well-being. Instead, they’re part of a regressive and hateful agenda that threatens to drive our country backward. 

The good news is that Emerge women are fighting back against the GOP’s cynical takeover. Twenty-eight of our Emerge alums just WON in school board races in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Oregon! But if far-right Republicans aren’t slowing down, then neither can we.

That’s why Emerge is building a new program focused entirely on school board races to help Democratic women replace and face down regressive candidates to win these critical seats. But with the GOP doubling down on packing our school boards, we urgently need your help to get this new program off the ground.
