Lauren Underwood For Congress

John — On Friday, Lauren was on MSNBC to talk about the challenges we must overcome in our health care system that lead to the maternal mortality crisis and what it will take to pass the Momnibus Act in Congress.

Still of Rep. Lauren Underwood on MSNBC. Chyron reads: Maternal Health. Momnibus Act addresses factors that drive maternal mortality, morbidity, and disparities

While addressing and preventing dangerous and many times fatal pregnancy-related complications may seem like an issue that should be addressed immediately, Lauren shared something surprising.

Members of Congress are surprised to learn that the United States has the worst maternal mortality rate in the developed world. They think that we solved this urgent issue years ago.

Lauren emphasized that policymakers have to choose to pass legislation including the Momnibus in order to take action and save moms. For them to take action, they need to be made aware and hear calls from the American people to get this done.

That means we need to double down on our work to amplify our message that over 80% of maternal deaths are preventable and that our country’s outsized maternal mortality rate is driven by far higher mortality rates among Black mothers and birthing people of color.

The Momnibus has over 180 cosponsors and we’re gathering more support every day. We are moving forward full steam, and we hope you’re still with Lauren as we work to ensure everyone, from members of Congress to working families, knows that passing the Momnibus Act is the best way to address this public health crisis.

John, will you add a contribution ahead of this Friday’s end-of-quarter fundraising deadline to help us spread Lauren’s message far and wide and save moms’ lives?

DONATE

Far too many families have lost mothers, daughters, and sisters to our nation’s maternal health crisis — and our Momnibus package is the solution.

Thank you for your support!
