This is outrageous, friend. I just read a Politico article, and well, the headline says it all: "Republicans are looking for Senate candidates who are filthy rich."
Yep, you read that right. Not candidates who are dedicated to doing the right thing for workers and families. Not even qualified. "Filthy rich."
Here's why this matters: the past few election cycles have shown the sheer strength of grassroots movements like ours, and the GOP has failed to keep up. Now, national Republicans are running scared – actively recruiting right-wing billionaires who can fund their own campaigns and help take back the Senate for Mitch McConnell.
Well, friend, unlike those filthy rich opponents, I am 100% committed to fighting for every worker’s right to fair wages, affordable health care, and economic opportunity.
This is one of the many reasons that this will be the toughest reelection campaign of my life – and experts say I'm a top GOP target for defeat. Even worse, analysts at NBC News say this race could be "even nastier and more expensive" than last year's $120 million battle.
The filthy rich shouldn't be able to buy our elections and I need grassroots supporters like you, friend, to make sure that doesn't happen.
That's why I'm asking for your help before my midnight fundraising deadline. Please, will you rush $5 – or our average donation of just $26 – to help me win in Ohio and defend our Democratic Senate majority?
With gratitude,
