Council and local MP seek assurances from Highways England that A52 Clifton Bridge work being prioritised

Nottingham City Council and MP for Nottingham South, Lilian Greenwood, have sought assurances from Highways England that everything is being done to complete the A52 Clifton Bridge work as quickly as possible.

Highways England discovered last week that water damage had corroded steel works underneath the bridge and closed the A52 eastbound for safety reasons.

Largest development in city gets underway as work starts to clear Island Quarter site

Plans to transform the former Boots Island site have taken a step forward as the developer behind the scheme begins work to clear the site.

Conygar received outline planning permission for the major development in April 2019 and work is now starting to prepare the site, which will be transformed as part of the regeneration of the southern side of the city.

Valley Road Park and The Day Brook Let the River Flow

Work nears completion this month on improvements to Valley Road Park with the release of the water into the newly created river alignment. The Blue Green Infrastructure project, delivered by Balfour Beatty with works procured through the Scape Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Framework, aims to lower flood risk for around 160 properties located near the Day Brook.

Western Power Distribution must undertake emergency electrical works on Derby Road at its junction with Ilkeston Road and Alfreton Road heading towards Nottingham City Centre.
An electrical cable which supplies the High Voltage network in the city centre is at risk of failing.

With the Highways England emergency works at the A52 Clifton Bridge set to continue into next week, the City Council will be working with Nottinghamshire Police to keep traffic across the city moving as much as possible during the morning and evening rush hour.

Non-urgent roadworks suspended across the city as A52 emergency work continues

Nottingham City Council has suspended all non-urgent roadworks across the city after Highways England confirmed that its emergency works on the A52 Clifton Bridge are expected to continue into next week.

The move has been made to reduce the impact on the wider road network of major work being carried out on a key traffic route through the city.
