“House G.O.P. Uses Spending Bills to Pick Partisan Policy Fights” – New York Times

Extreme MAGA Republicans are trying to jam their dangerous agenda through the Appropriations Committee. 

Never in my time as an appropriator have I seen such divisive riders included in an appropriations bill, let alone the defense bill. House Republicans holding critical national security funding hostage to:

- Eliminate funding for climate change and resilience
- Eliminate funding for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the military
- Deny military women the ability to take the leave they’ve earned to seek the reproductive health care they need when stationed in a state where abortion is illegal

If these backwards riders become law, they will leave our country weaker. We cannot let that happen.

As senior Democratic appropriator, I’m leading the fight back, but with our next public FEC end-of-quarter fundraising deadline coming up this Friday, I need you with me to hold the line.

The moment our fundraising numbers are made public, our GOP opponents will be scouring our report looking for signs of weakness. If they find any, they’ll take it as a green light to push forward.
