Secretary Benson names Jackie Venton as chief operating officer

?

*LANSING, Mich.* ? Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has named Jackie Venton as the new chief operating officer for the Michigan Department of State (MDOS).

?

Venton, who will return to MDOS on July 10, has had a successful 9-year career in Michigan government, serving in information technology positions focused on customer experience, quality assurance, and operational excellence. She has been tapped to manage and advise on several major projects for the state.

?

?Jackie has exceptional skills in problem-solving, improving processes, and making government work for the people of Michigan,? *Secretary Benson said*. ?During her previous time with us, her leadership helped us accomplish the most important IT project in department history. I look forward to having her on our team again.?

Venton has been chief of staff for Agency Services in the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) since January 2021, playing a key role in the success of DTMB?s strategic initiatives. Prior to that, she served as Customer and Automotive Records System (CARS) project manager for MDOS, overseeing the massive upgrade of decades-old vehicle and driver record systems into a modern, integrated system that has helped the department vastly improve the way it serves the people of Michigan.

Venton holds a bachelor?s degree in Business Management from Spring Arbor University. She was born in Sault Ste. Marie and is a lifelong resident of Michigan.
