Dear SPUC supporter,
On the 6 June, the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland laid Regulations that will force schools in Northern Ireland to teach pupils that they have a right to abortion and tell girls how they can get one without their parents finding out.
These regulations, which go beyond anything in place in England and Wales, are being forced on Northern Ireland with no public consultation, and without being fully debated in Parliament.
The Relationships and Sexuality Education (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Regulations will come up for “forthwith” (i.e, without a debate) tomorrow, Tuesday 27 June, and are likely to be voted on in a deferred division on Wednesday 28 June.
Please email your MP and ask him/her to vote against these regulations.
You can find your MP’s contact details here. We have also written a briefing for MPs, which can be found here. You can use the briefing to write your email, or, if you prefer, send your MP the link to the briefing, along with a request to vote against these regulations.
Please contact your MP now. Schools in Northern Ireland must not be turned into centres to promote abortion.
Kind regards,
|
