Dear friend, At the start of 2023, humanitarian need had risen to an all-time high — a record 339 million people worldwide were in need of humanitarian assistance. So far in 2023, a massive earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, violent clashes broke out in Sudan, violence has escalated in Ukraine, and the Horn of Africa is facing another failed rainy season. But the unprecedented challenges of the first half of the year were met with the compassion and generosity of our supporters, the dedication of our team members, and the strength of the communities where we work. From all of us here at Mercy Corps, thank you for your commitment to building a more resilient, inclusive future where everyone can prosper.
Your support is an important part of helping us meet this moment. Please make your first gift of 2023 before June 30 to help us respond quickly in emergencies and create lasting solutions for a more equitable world. Our teams — more than 5,900 strong — in more than 40 countries around the globe are ready to take on whatever comes next, and we are so grateful to know that this generous community will be by their side. With gratitude, Mary Stata Mercy Corps Chief Development Officer |
