Hey, John,
Wesley here. As I mentioned on Friday, at the end of this week, we’re going to be facing one of the most important deadlines we have this year. The next five days will determine how this campaign is going to be perceived for the rest of 2023. That could be the difference between success and failure for us.
When I started this campaign three months ago, it was important to me that I went back to my roots in Alexander County. It was important to me that I ran a race that stuck by and honored the values my parents taught me—that it’s hard to hate your neighbor when you live in a community with them, that more often than not access to opportunity is what separates success from failure, and that government can be a force for good when it invests in our people.
I’m proud of those values, and I believe that if we have a Treasurer who stands by them, we can absolutely transform our state for the better. But it’s going to take all of us to get across the finish line. I’m not someone who can loan myself a million dollars and coast my way to November, and I’m not interested in sustaining this campaign off of dark money from special interests.
This campaign is built on support from everyday folks, just like us, because as Treasurer, everyday folks are who I intend on being accountable to.
So, John, can I ask you to spare whatever you can today to help us put up a strong showing for the end of this month and prove just how powerful everyday North Carolinians are? Everyday folks like us can come together and make a difference, if we dig deep.
