 John, Our campaign is in a unique position to make history in 2024. There has never been a trauma surgeon elected to serve in Congress. And there’s never been a Black doctor who could vote in Congress. These perspectives are both vital to our efforts as Democrats to make life-saving change for our country. As a trauma surgeon, I know the real impact of gun violence and lack of access to healthcare on everyday Americans. I’ve seen it in emergency departments across the country and in my home community of Dallas. The preventable deaths of so many children and adults at the hands of both of these crises have driven my work outside of the hospital for years. I’m running because I want to put trauma surgeons like myself out of work– but that’s not possible unless we have trauma surgeons like me at the decision-making table in Washington. With your support, I can take my two decades of frontline experience to Washington and through legislation, create life-saving change nationwide. Right now, we’re closing in on our campaign’s very first quarterly filing deadline, after which our fundraising numbers will be made public.
