The darker the night, the brighter the stars

[link removed]

Dear SPUC supporter,

We live in a world turned upside-down.

Things once considered selfless and praiseworthy are now regarded as hateful and despised.

More worryingly, things only recently considered tragic and even criminal are now celebrated as ‘rights’ – and met with cheers and applause.

And this, of course, applies to abortion.

Unfortunately, many people see abortion as just one issue in a sea of competing charitable demands.

There are so many worthy causes, and so much pain and suffering in the world.

Supporting many of these other good causes brings rewards and praise from others.

But you and I know that every life is sacred, that every precious baby deserves love and protection from the first moment of its existence.

Mother Teresa famously remarked, ‘If a baby is not safe in its mother’s womb, what hope is there for the rest of us?’

When she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, she called abortion ‘the greatest destroyer of peace today.’

‘Because if a mother can kill her own child’ – she asked – ‘what is left but for me to kill you and you to kill me?’

If the bond between mother and child is broken, then the tree of society is poisoned at its very roots.

It’s clear: abortion is at the absolute centre of all the world’s problems.

It is not by chance that the ever-more-popular Satanic Temple sees abortion as its No. 1 struggle, macabrely proclaiming it to be a religious ritual and inviting its participants to treat it as such.

But we shouldn’t allow ourselves to think that abortion is made more horrific by its association with Satanism.

Abortion is horrific enough as it is.

And all of us are called upon to speak out about the horror of abortion.

We have become accustomed to the lies, misinformation, and propaganda of the media.

As a result, it might surprise you to know that abortion provider Marie Stopes (now MSI Reproductive Choices) is also one of the top 20 charities in the UK, turning over hundreds of millions of pounds each year.

* In fact, MSI Reproductive Choices' CEO is paid around £460,000 per year!

(Have you noticed that they don’t call themselves ‘Marie Stopes’ now?

They changed their name following the Black Lives Matter movement, to distance themselves from Stopes herself.

Stopes was a notorious eugenicist who, according to The Guardian, ‘wrote fiercely against interracial marriage’ and ‘called for new laws that allowed the ‘hopelessly rotten and racially diseased’ to be sterilised.’

She even sent a copy of her book of love poetry to ADOLF HITLER, and her book on marriage was denounced as obscene.

So it’s not surprising that the abortion provider that was named after her has dropped her odious name from common use – but they can’t get away from the shame so easily.)
MSI’s business plan can be said to reflect it founder’s eugenic ideals. It is imposing a radical abortion agenda on Africa and the developing world.

MSI is raking in a huge income and at the same time destroying local customs, breaking up society and spreading so-called ‘western liberal values.’

The Abortion Empire is determined to spread its influence – and its profit-making machine – across the whole world.

* But after the momentous pro-life decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in the USA last year, abortionists everywhere are on the defensive.

We can see that in the recent headline in the UK’s ‘Abortion Rights’ campaign, which stated:

* They are afraid that women are starting to see through the lies and misogyny which coerces vulnerable women into killing their child.

They should be afraid – because we will never give up.

Given the odds against us, it is easy to lose heart.

But if we give up fighting injustice, we ourselves become compromised and even culpable.

This is why I was so encouraged recently – and humbled – to see a huge array of people, from all ages and cultures, praying outside abortion centres.

Of all the participants, it was the young people that especially inspired me.

Their joy, commitment, endurance and HOPE was simply infectious.

This joy and hope are most striking given how tough the pro-life youth have it today.

They say that the darker the night, the brighter the stars.

If you can, imagine for a moment what it is like to be a pro-life student on campus these days.

Pro-life stalls at freshers’ fairs have been smashed up and students have been banned from speaking at events – and all of this in the name of ‘freedom’.

That’s what happened in Oxford, Edinburgh, and so many other places.

And this is why it is so important to strengthen and encourage these young pro-lifers.

But only supporters like you can ensure we have the resources to help them.

Just to give you some examples:

* Our Youth Conference this year cost £45,000 to run
* Participants paid £135 for the 2 days to help us cover the cost
* By contrast, Amnesty International can afford to charge just £15 per person to attend their 2-day Youth Conference.

It would be our dream to make our Youth Conference and other projects more accessible to disadvantaged young people – BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Costs for next year’s conference look set to rise sharply due to inflation.

If this happens, we will have to ask serious questions about whether we can afford to continue this annual event – or whether some other aspect of our work must be sacrificed instead.

But we must pass on the pro-life baton to the next generation.

We cannot sit back and renege on our responsibility to help young people turn the tide and bring up their own children in a Britain free from abortion.

However unlike the abortionists and the media, ALL our funds come from individual supporters like you.

Will you help SPUC invest in our pro-life future?

Young people are the future of the pro-life movement in the UK.

Your gift could help SPUC support them through conferences, and other game-changing initiatives like our street outreach programme, Project Truth. More than ever, young people need our support.

An investment in youth could mean:

* Instilling young people with the confidence to speak out on pro-life issues
* Empowering young people with knowledge and shared purpose
* Helping our young people to live according to their values
* Fostering a new generation of leaders who will bring abortion to an end in this country.

Will you consider donating £10, £25 or £50 today to fund SPUC’s support of young pro-lifers and help us build a better future for the unborn?

Our young pro-lifers need your help to build a better future for the unborn and their mothers. They have the enthusiasm and potential to be the best generation of pro-life activists and warriors ever.

But we need to equip them with the knowledge, means and confidence to communicate our life-affirming message. Your donation could make all the difference.

Monthly donations help us to plan for the future and to put powerful medium- and long-term plans into action.

So, would you consider starting a monthly subscription by direct debit – perhaps of £10 or £15 – to help us support these young people in this way?

Yours in defence of life
John Deighan
Chief Executive Officer

PS: Since becoming SPUC chief executive, I have been hugely struck by the generosity and loyalty of the Society’s donors.

A recent analysis of our fundraising showed that the average donation of a SPUC supporter is double that of other UK charity/non-profit postal appeal donors.

It’s always easier to defend a secure position than it is to win it back.

The measures we are taking now to build up our pro-life youth will surely be a much better investment than fighting to win them back once the pro-abortion movement has captured their hearts and minds.

And with inflation being what it is, what we can do with £10 today, may cost £20, £50 or even £100 tomorrow.

I urge you please: do not to stop giving, and please consider starting a monthly direct debit, if you can afford it.

Whether £10 or £10,000, I promise that your personal contribution to babies matters and will help defend precious lives in the challenging days ahead.
