It was eight years ago today that, in a 5-4 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court made the landmark ruling on Obergefell v. Hodges , and same-sex marriage became officially recognized in every state in the nation.
This year, it is a bittersweet memory, as Republicans inflict a legislative assault on LGBTQ+ rights across the country and the conservative super majority on the Supreme Court threatens to re-examine the Obergefell ruling.
