LED lights
LED street lighting

*We’re on track to replace 34,300 lights with new energy saving LED (light-emitting diode) sources, with over 60% of wards now complete.*

Nottingham City Council successfully bid for £7m from the Government’s Levelling Up fund, which will be used for this work. The ambitious programme began in July 2022, starting with Sherwood and Clifton and most recently working in Bulwell and Basford. LEDs will be installed ward by ward until completion in March 2024.

The new LED streetlights:

* Are more energy efficient – which will help support the goal to make Nottingham carbon-neutral by 2028
* Save money – by reducing maintenance costs and using less electricity

electric vehicle experience
Nottingham successfully wraps up National Highways-funded Electric Van Experience (EVE) trial
🚐🔌🔋

Our National Highways-funded Electric Van Experience trial has wrapped up with 79 organisations who took part now planning to take on 158 electric or hybrid vehicles.

Great news for local air quality and carbon emissions - well done and thank you to local businesses including ASAP Water Crafts, A.W. Lymm and Parcelhub who have now made the switch!

The 55 electric vans used in the EVE trial will now join the City Council’s vehicle fleet, replacing older vans that used petrol or diesel engines. These are used for activities including deliveries, cleaning up rubbish and more – taking Nottingham City Council’s overall fleet to 42% electric.

Funding for Porchester Road safe walking and cycling route secured!

🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

The Council is pleased to share that we’ve won over £1.7million to pay for investment in our cycling network in Mapperley.

The funding will mean the council can deliver a far more modern pedestrian and cycling-friendly scheme, with clear separation from traffic on this key part of Nottingham’s cycle network.

Look out for a consultation coming later this summer to see the designs and give us your views.
