Help us protect the Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni Grand Canyon: [link removed]

***********************************************************
Dear Friend,

For years, the toxic legacy of uranium and hardrock mining has contaminated sacred springs and drinking wells on the ancestral lands of Tribal Nations rooted in the iconic landscape of the Grand Canyon. [link removed]

Now, a coalition of 11 Tribes whose modern-day reservations stretch across Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada is calling on the Biden Administration to permanently protect more than 1 million acres of their homelands surrounding Grand Canyon National Park as Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni Grand Canyon National Monument.

Baaj nwaavjo means "where tribes roam" in the Havasupai language and i’tah kukveni means "our footprints" in Hopi.

Without federal action, the mining industry could destroy an area that sources drinking water, harbors tremendous biological diversity, promotes outdoor recreation, and sustains the spiritual wellbeing and culture of Tribal Nations who were the original stewards of this land.

Help us permanently protect this critical region by calling on the Biden Administration to declare the Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni Grand Canyon National Monument. [link removed]

Sincerely,
Blaine Miller-McFeeley
Senior Legislative Representative
