Hi there,

As we commemorate 1 year since Roe v. Wade was overturned, we remain committed to our mission and the reason we exist: we are fighting to ensure women are in ALL OF THE ROOMS where decisions are being made – especially when those decisions affect our lives and our bodies.

We’re writing today to tell you about one very powerful room in Buffalo, New York – a room with nine chairs for nine men – and zero women.

The Buffalo Common Council represents nine council districts – with nine council members representing the people of Buffalo – 100% of those members are men. 🤯 Our endorsed candidate Eve Shippens is not only running to change that, but she is running to defeat an anti-choice incumbent who has held his seat for 24 years.

Here’s the thing: Eve Shippens’ primary election is TOMORROW. She needs our help to become the first woman in history to represent the North District on the Buffalo Common Council. Please help us rush support to her campaign so she can make history by donating $20.23 now →

Eve became a Buffalo Public Schools teacher in 2001. She currently serves as the co-chair of the Buffalo Parent Teacher Organization, a delegate for New York State United Teachers, and on the Executive Committee of the Buffalo Teacher Federation. As a parent, teacher, and resident of the 14207 zip code, Eve has seen and felt the impact of many of the issues her neighbors face, including poverty, domestic violence, supporting loved ones through addiction and mental health struggles, and housing instability. For nearly a decade, she has worked at a local and state level for better public education, public transit, workers’ rights, housing stability, racial and social justice, and mutual aid.

Eve is running against Joe Golombek Jr. He has been in office since 1999, and in that time, he has become entrenched in his base of conservatives, Republicans, and right-leaning Democrats. Plus, he’s anti-choice.

It’s been too long since there was a woman on this Common Council. We can’t stomach the thought of yet another room of all-male elected representatives making decisions about WOMEN’S lives and WOMEN’S bodies. But we have good news: this district has become more diverse over the years, with women now outnumbering male voters, and is eager for new leadership. Eve has a real chance to tap into that voting bloc and win this seat – but she needs our help to get voters to the polls tomorrow.

This is Eve’s last chance to shatter this glass ceiling and defeat her anti-choice, 24-year incumbent. She cannot do it alone. Help us rush last-minute support to her campaign by donating $20.23 immediately.
