FL-27 Newsletter
Vol. 118, Issue #23
Dear Friends/Amigos,

This week I was back in Washington advocating for all my constituents in the halls of Congress.

Since I took office, I have continuously sounded the alarm about the need to engage with our allies in Latin America while constantly condemning socialist governments wherever they exist. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration's Latin America policy is the total opposite.

New reports are now showing the Chinese are building spy and military bases in Cuba, just 90 miles away from the South Florida coast. Weak policy creates an unstable world, and I spent this last week ensuring policymakers in Washington know how dangerous this situation is. Check out some of my thoughts below.

It is an honor to serve you in Congress, and please continue to call my office or visit my website to share your thoughts with me.

As always, I invite you to connect with me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, to get the latest from Washington and from across our district.

Sincerely/Atentamente,

María Elvira Salazar
U.S. Representative (FL-27)
CHINA IS BUILDING BASES 90 MILES AWAY.
I AM SOUNDING THE ALARM!
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will stop at nothing to expand in our sphere of influence, and the tyrants in Havana, Caracas, and Managua are rolling out the red carpet for them.

New reports from the Wall Street Journal show that the CCP and Cuban regime have come to an agreement to construct Chinese military and spy bases on Cuban soil just 90 miles away from the state of Florida.

This is why my colleague on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Representative Young Kim, released a joint statement with me sounding the alarm on this new development.

We also urge the Biden Administration to ditch its policy of appeasement and engage head on by reasserting America as the nation who calls the shots in our own hemisphere.

SUPPORTING MIAMI SMALL BUSINESSES!
This week, I joined my colleagues on the House Small Business Committee to ask an official from the Small Business Administration about the overbearing regulations Miami small businesses face on a daily basis.

The reality is, in a time of crushing inflation, geopolitical uncertainty, and supply chain lags, small businesses need our support.
