Dear John:

This week, the Ways and Means Committee saw 14 hours worth of transcripts from two IRS whistleblowers, who risked their careers by coming to us. The interviews show that Hunter Biden failed to claim over $8 MILLION from all over the world, including China. They also illustrate how the IRS & DOJ protected him from justice through bullying tactics and slow-walking the investigation process to the point where the statute of limitations expired on two felony counts.

The Biden's used their influence over the federal government to benefit themselves personally and politically. House Republicans have committed to holding the federal government accountable and that is exactly what we are going to do.

One Year Since Dobbs

This weekend marks one year since the historic Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization Supreme Court decision took a monumental step towards protecting the most precious and basic right: the right to life. Thanks to this decision, the American people are now able to decide the issue of abortion through their elected officials, rather than putting policy in the hands of appointed judges.

But, there is so much more Congress can do to empower women to choose life. For example, it is crucial that women are supported when facing an unexpected pregnancy. That is why this year I introduced The Health, Opportunity, Protecting Life, Education (HOPE) Actwhich improves access to prenatal telehealth care, supports positive alternatives to abortion, and improves access to information for expectant mothers, providing tangible ways to help women feel confident during and beyond their pregnancy.

I am honored to introduce this bill and am excited about the next chapter of the pro-life movement thanks to the Dobbs decision. You can read more about the HOPE Act here.

Rural Veterinary Workforce Act

The Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program (VMLRP) is crucial to placing veterinarians in rural communities, but the outdated system of withholding taxes limits its impact.

This week, my Ways & Means colleagues and I introduced The Rural Veterinary Workforce Act to maximize the impact of the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program by eliminating unnecessary taxes in order to get more dollars to rural America and out of Washington D.C. This bill make student loan repayment programs more accessible to veterinarians in rural communities like Minnesota's 7th District so they can continue their important work caring for America’s livestock and maintaining our supply chains.

Congressional Art Competition

I had the honor of meeting this year's Congressional Art Competition winner, Ashlynn Brouwer, and give her family a tour when they came to see her work hanging in the Capitol!
